How we work
Live the problem
Every tool starts as something we needed ourselves, and one that wastes people’s time or money.
Build the workaround
Small, practical, and working within days. AI does the legwork; builders we know and trust do the engineering.
Share what works
If it helped us, it can help the next person, so it gets cleaned up and opened to them.
- Built for real life.A phone in one hand, a busy day, patchy signal, a language you don’t read yet.
- Safety is checked, not assumed.A nurse’s habit: verify before you trust it. Test cases on every AI we build or review.
- Your data stays yours.Private things stay private. Never in a public repo, never sold.
- Plain language. If it needs a manual or jargon, it isn’t finished.
One rule sits above the rest: a person always decides. Our tools do the legwork, but nothing gets sent, spent, signed, or posted without your OK.
Hi, I’m Jami.
I’m a mom of six, a teacher, and a registered nurse since 2006, mostly in the ER. I’ve taught everything from CPR to new-nurse orientation, and I spent the last few years on the tech side of healthcare, testing AI before it reached hospitals. I’m divorced and part of a large, loud extended family, so I know a thing or two about juggling.
Right in the middle of my personal midlife crisis, I landed in a professional one too, so I did what I always do: I went looking for solutions. I tend to build things to stay busy when I’m bored, and tech was moving so fast that I started using it to run my own life: alerts I could actually read, a guide to moving abroad, a check-in so my family knows I’m OK. Along the way, I realized other people could use these too.
Caring for people is what I’ve always done. Building things that care for people is the same job with new tools. Tech is supposed to help us, not get in the way. Every problem has a workaround, and Workaround Studio is where I build them.
I build things for my own life, and keep the ones other people need.

Why “Workaround”?
Every caregiver knows workarounds. Moms, teachers, and nurses live by them: the scanner won’t read the wristband, so you find a way that still keeps everyone safe. If people need a workaround, the tool failed them. We build technology that fits real life, so the workaround becomes the product, not a daily fight.
For hospitals and health plans
Healthcare AI safety consulting, the advisory side of Workaround Studio
For twenty years nurses have invented workarounds for technology that didn’t fit the shift. Now we make sure the AI hospitals and health plans buy helps the people at the bedside, instead of handing them new problems to work around.

So, what’s bugging you?
It’s the first question on every ER chart, and it’s how every Workaround Studio project starts. Tell us what keeps getting in your way. We read every one, group it with others like it, and judge it: how many people have it, how much it hurts, and what you’ve already paid to fix it. The ones that matter most become our next workarounds, and you’ll hear about it first.
We only use your email to reply. Ideas are never published with your name.
By sending an idea, you agree we can use it freely, with no payment or credit owed. Please don’t send anything confidential.
